Should Munanga learn Kriol?

In 2017, linguists Cathy Bow and Caroline Hendy visited Ngukurr and worked with the Ngukurr Language Centre to ask the question “Should Munanga learn Kriol?”.

They interviewed 21 Ngukurr residents and asked what they think about Kriol and the idea of Munanga (non-Indigenous people) learning it. In the past, there have been some different opinions, so it is really interesting to read what Cathy and Caroline learned from people in Ngukurr.

You can read the final draft of their article here: https://www.academia.edu/50321005/Should_Munanga_learn_Kriol_Exploring_attitudes_to_non_Indigenous_acquisition_of_Kriol_language_in_Ngukurr and the final version is in the Australian Review of Applied Linguistics: https://www.jbe-platform.com/content/journals/10.1075/aral.20084.hen
